The all-new, sixth-generation Nissan Micra is set to make a bold return in 2025, now fully electric and ready to take on the B-segment with a fresh, confident attitude. As a zero-emission, connected compact car, the new Micra remains true to its heritage of being stylish, practical, and unpretentious—qualities that have made it a favourite for over 40 years and five generations.

This latest Micra marks a significant milestone in Nissan’s European electrification strategy. It is the first of four new electric models that Nissan plans to launch by 2027, including an updated Nissan LEAF, a new JUKE, and a new A-segment model. Additionally, Nissan’s e-Power technology is being rolled out across models like the Qashqai.

A Fresh Design with Urban Appeal

Designed at Nissan Design Europe in London, the new Micra boasts a premium, SUV-inspired design. Clean surfaces, pronounced wheel arches, and an assertive lower lip give the car a sense of stability, while the overall design conveys a readiness for urban challenges. All versions come with striking 18-inch wheels, with design options tailored to each trim level.

The car’s front headlamps protrude slightly from the body, creating a signature light show when the car is unlocked. At the rear, LED taillights featuring circular elements add a modern, yet familiar touch. The side profile features a distinctive “ice cream scoop” design element that runs along the rear doors, creating a sleek, dynamic visual signature.

The Micra will be available in 14 exterior colour combinations, including Pure White, Elegant Silver, Rebel Red, and Authentic Blue. Two-tone options with either a grey or black roof provide further customization, allowing owners to reflect their unique personality.

An Interior Inspired by Simplicity and Japanese Elegance

Inside, the cabin follows the Micra’s tradition of understated elegance. A moulded outline of Mount Fuji graces the central storage area, a nod to the brand’s Japanese roots. The cabin features a three-spoke steering wheel and a 10.1-inch digital display for the driver, along with a second touchscreen in the centre for infotainment, angled for ease of use.

Interior trims are available in three distinct themes: Modern, Audacious, and Chill, each offering a unique atmosphere. Ambient lighting with 48 colour options further personalizes the space, allowing owners to set the mood.

Compact Yet Spacious

Although the Micra remains compact, measuring under four metres long and 1.8 metres wide, it offers ample space and functionality. The car’s 2.54-metre wheelbase extends the wheels to the corners, maximising interior room and providing enhanced stability and agility. The five-door design ensures easy access, while front passenger space is particularly impressive. The boot space is a standout feature, offering 326 litres of capacity, which expands to 1,106 litres when the rear seats are folded down.

Fully Electric with Impressive Range and Features

For the first time, the Micra is fully electric, offering two battery options: a 40kWh and a 52kWh. The larger 52kWh battery provides an impressive real-world range of up to 408km, making the Micra suitable for both daily commutes and longer weekend trips. Both battery versions support rapid charging, with a 15% to 80% charge achieved in just 30 minutes using 100kW or 80kW DC chargers. The inclusion of heat pumps and battery thermal management as standard ensures optimal performance.

Additionally, the Micra features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, allowing the car to power external devices like speakers, tools, or even camping gear—perfect for owners who want to make the most of their electric vehicle. With a light weight of 1,400kg (1,524kg with the larger battery), the Micra also benefits from enhanced efficiency and handling.

Customizable Driving Experience

Drivers can tailor their experience through selectable driving modes:

  • Comfort: The default mode, offering a balance between performance and efficiency.

  • Sport: Sharpens throttle and steering response for a more dynamic drive.

  • Eco: Prioritizes energy conservation, maximising range.

  • Perso: Lets the driver fully customise settings to their preferences.

Regenerative braking is also adjustable via paddles behind the wheel, allowing drivers to recycle energy during deceleration. The MICRA features Nissan’s e-Pedal system, enabling one-pedal driving, perfect for stop-and-go urban traffic.

Seamless On-Board Technology

On-board technology is at the forefront of the Micra EV, with Google built-in across all versions. This includes:

  • Google Maps: Offering real-time route planning with suggestions for charging stops based on the route and battery status.

  • Google Assistant: Enabling hands-free control of climate, navigation, and even smart home devices.

  • Google Play: Providing access to a wide array of apps directly from the car’s interface.

Additionally, the NissanConnect app offers remote access to battery status, location tracking, charging schedules, and climate controls, allowing the Micra to seamlessly integrate with the driver’s daily life. For those who prefer their own devices, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come as standard.

Advanced Safety Features

Safety remains a top priority in the new Micra EV. It offers a suite of advanced safety technologies, including:

  • Nissan ProPilot Assist: Features lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and emergency braking.

  • Lane Departure Warning: Alerts the driver if the car unintentionally drifts from its lane.

  • Blind Spot Intervention: Detects vehicles in the blind spot and assists with steering to avoid collisions.

  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert: Helps with reversing by detecting cross traffic.

  • Occupant Safe Exit Assist: Warns passengers of approaching vehicles when exiting the car.

These systems are designed to keep both the driver and passengers safe, providing peace of mind on every journey.

Outlook

Sales of the all-new Nissan Micra EV will begin in Europe in late 2025, offering compact EV buyers a fresh combination of style, practicality, cutting-edge technology, and timeless appeal. With its engaging driving dynamics, customizable features, and advanced safety technologies, the Micra EV is set to be a standout choice in the electric vehicle market.
